After graduating from the University of Arizona Medical School in 2002 and completing her residency training at Phoenix Children’s Hospital in 2005, she really became interested in serving children with barriers to care. Melk worked for Mountain Park Community Health Centers which helped solidify her passion for the community health center model as a way to reach all children, regardless of their financial or social background.
Melk joined Chiricahua Community Health Center, Inc. in 2010 as a community pediatrician and over time, took on various leadership roles. In July of 2020, she became Chief Medical Officer and currently supervises a team of over 80 billing providers in various specialties. The team is focused on bringing quality preventive care to children and families in their rural and underserved areas through innovation and collaboration. Outside of work, she serves as the Chief Medical Officer for a nonprofit organization focused on children with special health care needs in Montero, Bolivia, and is blessed to have four beautiful sons.
